Status: Full-time, Hourly – Non-Exempt

Hours: 40 hour minimum work week (some irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays)

Summary of Position:

Constructs, maintains and operates overhead and underground distribution lines and transmission lines and operates substations. Keeps informed on changes in the industry and learns and complies with all safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.


(a) Frames, sets, and aligns poles
(b) Strings armor-rod
(c) Sags and ties in conductors on all types of poles and structures
(d) Installs and changes out all transformers
(e) Installs underground primary and secondary lines, pad mount transformers, and related equipment
(f) Operates line trucks and bucket trucks and other assigned equipment. Ensures that these are maintained in good working condition
(g) Performs hot line work


(a) Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Position is required to participate in ongoing technical and safety training including hot line schools, applied electricity course, etc. Must have completed at least 4 years in Diverse Power Incorporated’s apprenticeship or equivalent program, and must be able to perform all the activities listed in First Class Lineman Classification.

(b) Additional Expectations:
A valid commercial driver’s license is preferred.
Must be able to read and interpret maps, staking sheets, sag charts, and other materials. Should have basic knowledge of poly-phase metering hookups and be able to properly install it. Should have a working knowledge of National Electric Code.


(a) Frequently lifts materials and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds.
(b) Occasionally must be able to move materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds from one level to another.
(c) Many activities are typically performed standing or working in a bucket or when individual is supported by positioning equipment.
(d) Outside work in all kinds of weather may be required. Irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime is required. This position serves on-call rotation as assigned.
