Diverse Power Incorporated promotes energy efficient residential construction in accordance with national, state and local building codes. Homes built to these specifications are more comfortable, more durable and more economical to live in and qualify for cash rebates. Highlights of the standards are as follows: Insulation Flat ceilings require R-30 attic insulation. Roof-ceiling combinations require R-19 attic insulation. Walls consist of R-13 total wall insulation. Windows must achieve a U-value of 0.67 or less. Basement walls must have R-13 (50% or more above grade) or R-6 (50% or more below grade) Infiltration and Vapor Control All openings and penetrations in the thermal envelope shall be properly sealed with appropriate materials. Windows Double-paned windows required. Aluminum frames shall have a thermal break. Limited amount of single-paned decorative glass allowed. Exterior Doors Metal insulated foam core or solid wood required. Attic Ventilation Continuous ridge vents and soffit vents preferred. Other methods permitted by approval. Heating and Cooling Equipment An electric heat pump is required. Dual fuel and geothermal heat pumps can be substituted for air source heat pumps. A minimum S.E.E.R. rating of 10.0 is required with an H.S.P.F. of 6.8. Duct System The duct system must be designed and installed according to industry standards. All ducts must be properly insulated and all joints and seams must be sealed with mastic except for fibrous ducts. Water Heating Equipment Properly-sized high efficiency electric water heating is required. The use of a waste heat recovery unit is encouraged. |
