AMI Meter Technician – LaGrange
Status: Full-time, Hourly – Non-Exempt
Hours: 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM | Monday – Friday (some irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays)

As a Meter Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing electric meters for residential and commercial customers. You will work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to perform your duties efficiently and safely.
1 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This description is intended to indicate the kinds of tasks and levels of work difficulty required of the position given this title and shall not be construed as declaring what the specific duties and responsibilities of any position shall be. (a) Install electric meters at new or existing customer locations according to established procedures and standards.
(b) Maintain and repair electric meters as required, including diagnosing and fixing problems with meters and associated equipment.
(c) Test electric meters to ensure accurate readings and compliance with regulatory standards.
(d) Record and maintain accurate data related to meter installations, repairs, and replacements.
(e) Respond to customer inquiries and complaints related to electric meters and provide exceptional customer service.
(f) Participate in emergency response and restoration efforts as required, including responding to power outages and other incidents.
(g) Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper integration and operation of metering systems.
(h) Comply with safety procedures and regulations when performing work in the field.
2 ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
(a) Must be able to perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description.
(b) Must be able to deal with a variety of people under varying circumstances.
(c) Must be able to organize work, set priorities, and complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
(d) Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
3 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
(a) High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
(b) Additional training in distribution revenue metering, meter maintenance and mathematics used in metering is preferred.
(c) Ongoing training as required.
(d) Previous experience in meter testing preferred. This experience should include the operation of a meter test board for testing single-phase and multi-phase meters.
(e) An understanding of the principles of electric distribution metering is required. Should be familiar with different meter types and their uses.
1 PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
(a) Inside position some fieldwork is required. Some overtime may be required.
(b) After an offer of employment has been made, a physical examination is required including a drug test.
