Warehouse Utility Worker – LaGrange

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Warehouse, utility, or general labor experience (preferred).
Abilities and Skills:
• Strong teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to operate or willingness to learn warehouse equipment (forklift certification a plus).
• Basic organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. and work in indoor/outdoor environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Receive, unload, and store incoming materials, tools, and equipment.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and on time in compliance with RUS specifications.
• Deliver, stage, and prepare materials for field crews.
• Perform general warehouse and yard duties (cleaning, organizing, maintaining order).
• Properly handle retired construction materials per procedure.
• Conduct inventory counts, track stock levels, and report shortages/damages.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment.
• Support warehouse staff and supervisors with special projects or urgent needs.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following company safety policies.
• Assist with emergencies or storm response efforts.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with all company requirements.
• Pass required physical exam and drug screening.
• Communicate effectively using two-way communication devices.
• Assist line crews, contractors, and operations personnel as needed.
• Ensure only authorized personnel have access to storage facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the Cooperative’s objectives.

Working Conditions:
• Indoor warehouse and outdoor yard settings with exposure to varying weather.
• Frequent lifting, bending, carrying, and standing.
• Regular use of forklifts and warehouse equipment.
• Overtime, weekends, or on-call work may be required during peak workloads or storm restoration.
• Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
After an offer of employment has been made, a physical examination is required, which will include drug testing.
Relationships:
Internal: Collaborates with supervisors, material accounting, purchasing, and other departments to ensure efficient delivery and storage of materials.
External: Works with vendors, shippers, and carriers to secure and receive materials. Demonstrates a strong commitment to serving cooperative members and the public.
